An understanding of the potential for gambling treatment diversion programs/courts are discussed, as well as information on which individuals would best be served by diversion. Malkin explores the issues people with Gambling Disorder face through the criminal justice system, including in correctional facilities. Findings allow for fuller understanding of the different ways people with Gambling Disorder become involved in the carceral system, primarily for acquisitional crimes to support gambling and/or to pay off gambling “related” debts. ![]() explores criminal consequences for people who have a history of problem gambling, including how commission of a gambling-motivated crime is connected to the social and economic consequences of Gambling Disorder.
